Badrinath is located at a high altitude hence the climate is quite chilly throughout the year especially during winters. However the best time to visit this holy destination is from May to June and September to October.
Summers extend from May to June only with cool and pleasant climate. The temperature remains around average 18 degree C with warm days and cooler nights. This time is considered ideal to visit the holy pilgrimage and to enjoy sightseeing nearby.
Winters last from October to April with quite chilly days. The temperature may drops down to 5 degree C and in the extreme conditions; it may touch the sub zero level resulting into snowfall which is quite common in the region in winters. Hence winters are not considered perfect to travel to Badrinath.
Monsoon season extends from June to September with good rainfall. The temperature falls up to 15 degree C and landslides are also occasional in this area during monsoon that may interfere with your travelling to Badrinath.
