Located in the state of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur is a historical city and a major touristdestination which is also renowned as the second most developed city in the state. Nestled at the banks of River Arpa, the city is believed to be 400 years old and is named after a fisherwoman, Bilasa. It is blessed with a wide array of ancient historical forts, splendid temples and other captivating places depicting the rich history and tradition of the town. Apart from a plethora of tourist attractions, the district of Bilaspur is famed for its specific varieties of rice that rightly gives it the name as ‘the Rice Bowl of Chhattisgarh’. A trip to Bilaspur will surely offer you an unforgettable experience to explore the various old and new aspects of the city.

The charming city of Bilaspur is surrounded with seven hill ranges namely Naina Devi, Jhanjiar, Kot, Tiun, Bandala, Ratanapur and Bahadurpur that together contributed this district with the name of Satdhar Kahloor during the royal period. In the later times, a new Bilaspur Township has been developed which is just above the old city of Bilaspur located at a height of 670 meter above sea level. With its multi- dimensional development, it is referred as the first planned hill town of entire India. To add to the pleasure of visiting the town, a motor launch is much preferred by the tourists to take a tour of the entire hill city across the cool waters of the shining lake. Apart from it, the town is also known for its annual cattle fair called as Nalwari that takes place in the month of March or April and is a never to miss occasion for the visitors. As a matter of fact, Bilaspur is no short of various natural, archaeological and religious attractions that can definitely make your trip a wonderful time to be cherished for lifetime.
