Shri Pataliputra Tirtha, Patna, Bihar - Religious belief and architectural grandeur

This is a famous Jain temple dedicated to Bhagawan Vishalnath Swami. A 60 cm tall idol of this tirthankar in a posture of padmasana resides in the temple. The ‘Pataliputra Reading’ in which a system was finalised called the eleven angas is believed to have taken place at this very spot. Also, great acharyas like Samrat Samprati Pratibodhaka Sushastisuriji, Acharya Shri Vajraswami, Acharya Shri Rakshitasuri, Acharya Shri Umaswami, Acharya Shri Padalipatasuri and Sheth Shri Sudarshana have taken to countless religious works here. The city as a whole has been home to numerous prosperous Jains and holy saints.
