Ratnapur is a historical town near Bilaspur and was founded by King Ratnadev. The place gained much popularity as the capital of the Kalchuri dynasty. There are a number of attractions to be seen in the city having great historical and religious significance. The major attraction is the Ratanpur Fort that is recognised as an archaeological site. Moreover, the Mahamaya Temple built by Raja Ratnadev is famous as an abode of dual idol of Goddess Saraswati and Laxmi. It is also a Sidh Peeth and a popular religious site in the state that draws a plenty of devotees every year.
