Charming Old Porvoo, Finland - Old Town

The Old Town of Porvoo is exclusive. The mosaic-like township plan with its labyrinth of streets and sporadically twisted plots dates back to the middle ages. Since then the township suffered many fires, but always the stubborn citizens rebuilt their houses on the same foundations. Many of the boutiques and services are situated on Jokikatu and Välikatu Streets and around the cathedral, but it's also worth looking a bit further. In the side streets and lanes it's easy to take a step back in time and forget the modern world. The small tranquil parks and sleepy cobblestone streets among the houses entice the visitor to loiter and replicate on the past.
