Burigosain Devalay, Jorhat, Assam - An important Shakta shrine
Burigosain Devalay is an important Shakta shrine in Jorhat and is highly revered by the devotees all across the region. The presiding deity of the temple is Burigosain and along with it an idol of a priest is also kept in the shrine. It is said that both these idols were taken from Jayantiya and places in Rangpur and from there moved to the present location in Jorhat by the Ahoms. This religious temple is dedicated to the Shakta sect who was known for its tantric worship.
