Thangassery Beach, Kollam, Kerala - A beautiful beach side village

Located at a distance of just 5 km from the main town of Kollam, it is beautiful beachside small village having historical significance. The place once served as a major settlement of the Portuguese as well as the Dutch. Extended over an area of 99 acres, the village also houses some of the ruins of an OldPortuguese fort and ancient churches which were built in the 18^th century. One of the major points of interest in Thangassery is an old lighthouse which was built in 1902. It is 144 feet long and offers panoramic views of the town and the sea. Moreover, the tourists can also enjoy many water sports such as fishing, diving, parasailing and catamaran riding at the beach.
