Neer Mahal, Agartala, Tripura - Wonderful architecture and one of the best sites of Agartala
The Water Palace (Neer Mahal) is a major tourist place situated about 55km from Agartala. Its speciality is that it is the only lake palace in Eastern India. The sole other lake palace in the country is in Rajasthan. Neer Mahal is over 400 feet long and was built in 1930 as a summer resort in more than nine years. The Rudrasagar Lake is a 6 sq. km. Water body which surrounds the palace. The palace architecture is an assimilation of Hindu and Islamic styles and is characterised by a profusion of towers, balconies, pavilions and bridges. A light and sound cultural show is organised here every evening.
