The Nanda Devi Temple is a must visit religious attraction in Ranikhet which is much renowned for its annual Nanda Devi Fair held in the month of September. This fair draws a number of devotees from the nearby regions of Uttaranchal and is considered as a symbol of prosperity for the entire region. This famous fair is held in the honor of Goddesses Nanda Devi and Sunanda Devi and is of great cultural significance for the locals of the region. It got started in the 16th century by Raja Kalyan Chand and since then it has been celebrated as a great festival by the inhabitants of the region of Kumaon.
