Established in 1917, it is a major attraction of Bihar. It has showcased itself as the background complex of Buddhist civilization. Exhibiting various antique items compassing manuscripts, seals and statues, the museum is a retreat to the visitor’s eyes. Statue kept in the museum are made of bronze, stucco, stones and terracotta. All these statues reflect the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain ideologies and are engraved on Basalt stone. All these antiquities exhibited in the museum showcase the societal features of the Pala Period and display the finest collection of the culture of the ancient Indian society. It is divided into four sections having 13463 antiquities which have been excavated from various sites.
