It is one of the most important temple in the mangalore city .It was built in 1912 and is one of the main attractions Of mangalore. The Sri Gokarnanatheshwara temple is very unique and was built by Sri Narayana Gura. The temple was built mainly for the Billava community since they were prohibited entrance to the main deity of Lord Shiva in Gokarnantheshwara. The main temple is accompanied by smaller temples for Annapoorneswari, Mahaganapathi, Subramanya, the Navagraha, Anandabhairavaand Shaneeshwara. There are a lot of murals depicting the different gods and the goddesses. There are many scenes from the mythologies, legends and epics which are shown here artistically. There are four main pillars in this temple which were recently renovated and give an impressive look . The special occasions in this temple are Navarathri and Shivrathri.
