Nestled in the foothills of Himalayas in the West Kameng, it is a famous elephant reserve that was established in 2002 to manage the population of Asiatic elephants of the region. Sprawled in a huge area, the reserve is dotted with lush tropical semi- evergreen plantation. In addition to the endangered Asiatic elephants, the place also houses a population of Indian elephants, Bengal tiger, leopard, red panda, sambhar, wild dog, Indian bison, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, capped langur and yellow throated marten etc. Not only this, it also houses around 250 species of butterflies and 300 species of colorful birds.
