About Gulmarg

Gulmarg literally means ‘meadow of flowers’ is an enchanting hill station lying in the district of Barumala in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. Originally referred as ‘Gaurimarg’ by the shepherds, the present name of the place was given by Sultan Yusuf Shah in the 16^th century who was amazed by the sight of the grassy slopes embedded with wild blossoms. Moreover, it was also a favorite resort for the kings including Mughal Emperor Jehangir and also was a summer retreat for the British officers.
