Grand Anicutis one of the renowned attraction for the tourists in Thanjavur and is located near Trichy. Also known as the Kallanai, the Grand Anicut is a heritage site of the state of Tamilnadu. It was built during the 1^st century by the Chola king, Karikalan on the River Cauvery. This 329 m long and 20 m broad Grand Anicut is ranked as the oldest dams of the entire world.
