Situated at only 13 km away from Aurangabad, the Daulatabad Fort is also one of the most popular sites in the city. Formerly known as the Devgiri, the fort is placed on a majestically pyramid shaped hill. In the 12th century, the massive fort was built by the brave king of the Yadav Dynasty named Bhillama. Later on, the name Daulatabad was granted to this fort by the famous ruler Mohammaed Bin Tughlaq. Literally, the “Daulatabad” means the city of fortune. Thick solid walls and engrossed gates are the main enclosures of this wonderful historical monument. So, it proves to be worthwhile to visit this fort especially for those who are great fond of history.
