The Botanical Garden is one of the main attractions for tourist in Ooty and also plays significant role in alluring tourists from all over the globe. In 1847, Marquis of Tweedale laid out this wonderful garden covering an area of 22 hectares. One can soothe his eyes with amazing collection of attractive shrubs, flowering tress and also charming lilies. Here, one can also witness superb lawns with impressive maintenance, garden bordering in an Italian style and top of the all, a 20 million years old fossil tree which is well-known as monkey’s puzzle tree and it is so called because monkeys are unable to climb on this tree.
