Animesh Lochana Chaitya, Bodh Gaya, Bihar - A sacred site associated with Lord Buddha

AnimeshLochanaChaitya sacred site is said to be one among the places associated with the enlightenment of Lord Buddha. While performing his long cycle of tough meditation, Buddha spent seven days at this place near the Bodhi tree. It is believed that during this time, he looked at the tree without blinking his eyes and thus the place was named Animesh Lochana means open eyes. It is also believed that he also spent few days walking between this place and Bodhi tree and this route is known as Ratnachankrama or the jewel walk.
